  1. I had some more thoughts on my post after listening to the podcast. I think the thing that makes me most mad about seeing continuous use of rape/subjugation of women in apocalyptic fiction is that the apocalypse seems like it would be a pretty good equalizer. Who cares about gender, colour, or sexual orientation when 99% of the population is dead? Wealth gets redistributed and redefined, certain skills become more or less valued… It seems like building a world where people are treated equally well (or awfully) wouldn’t be any more difficult than just reproducing the status quo.
